Door County Marine added new boat towing service

Door County Marine President Jon Kruse announce this fall that the company is offering emergency boat towing and salvage services to boaters in central Door County.

Utilizing a vessel at first built by Sensation Yachts for the 30th America Cup in New Zealand, T-One, as she is warmly known, is a workhorse with speed, function and comfort, Kruse said. The 43-foot, aluminum-hulled vessel is commercial-grade to New Zealand Maritime Standards and was originally the principal Auckland Maritime vessel for the America Cup in the year 2000.

Budget limitations are restricting the Coast Guard ability to answer to non-life threatening urgent situation calls from boaters, Kruse said. With this increased need for Commercial Towing Services T-One can step right in with the size and power to tow personal pleasure boats of almost every size, or to handle the rough seas that are common to Lake Michigan.

Kruse said when he learned T-One was available to bring to Sturgeon Bay; he knew it was a good chance to provide a valuable service to boaters in Door County. The new boat engines have been upgraded and the Hypalon cushion tubes surrounding the hull make it ideal to meet the towing needs of the boating public, he said.
